Transport & Safety
The downside is getting around as there is a lot of traffic. the road system is being upgraded This is improving now. making the journey better.
The country is very safe night and day , it is cheap to get around by taxi.
Dubai Metro:
A driverless, fully automated rail network, set to be the largest of its kind in the world. Dubai Metro will comfortably connect a city of an estimated 15 million visitors a year by 2010. Its first stage will be finished by 2009.
Activities
If you wish to do some thing unusual there are desert safaris, balloon flights, dune bashing, sand skiing, camel riding and camel racing! You can also enjoy boating, karting and helicopter tours.
For the most unusual you can ski in the Mall of the Emirates or ice skate at the Dubai mall!
Shopping
For shopping or just spending time in the air conditioned comfort you cannot beat the fantastic shopping malls. These are huge some with Aquarians, ice rinks or ski slopes as well as souks for gold purchases. The malls are so large you can easily spend a day in each . These are plenty of food courts.
The large malls are open from 09.00 to 22.00 hours. Between them they have all the shops you could ever need.

Landmarks
The World:
An archipelago of 300 manmade islands off the coast of Dubai, created from sand dredged from the sea. The World is a landmark for future eco-tourism projects worldwide. The World is one of several tourist and commerce related projects off the coast of Dubai which can be seen from space.
Burj Dubai:
Opening in 2009, the Burj Dubai is a super-tall skyscraper set to be the tallest in the world. In a breathtaking design, which encompasses the makings of a small city in its interior, the Burj Dubai will be the center piece of Dubai’s new Dubaitown District.
Palm Trilogy:
Many know Palm Jumeirah as an international icon, but few realize that it was created help solve Dubai’s beach shortage. The Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum drew a sketch of a palm tree, realizing its fronds would provide more beach frontage than a traditional circular island. From this insight, the idea of Palm Jumeirah was born and the trilogy of islands envisioned including the Palm Deira and the Palm Jebel Ali.

Atlantis, The Palm is a 1,539 room, ocean-themed destination resort located at the centre of the crescent of the man-made Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. This US$1.5 billion joint venture project was developed with Dubai Government owned,
Atlantis, The Palm will offer an unprecedented entertainment centre, an impressive collection of luxury boutiques and shops and extensive meeting and convention facilities. It will be home to one of the largest open-air marine habitats in the world, with some 65,000 marine animals in lagoons and displays including The Lost Chambers, a maze of underwater corridors and passageways providing a journey through ancient Atlantis.
Historical Dubai
Al Fahidi Fort:
This houses the Dubai Museum, was built around 1787, and once guarded the landward approaches to the town. Renovated in 1971 for use as a museum, its colourful life size dioramas vividly depict everyday life in the days before the discovery of oil. Galleries recreate scenes from the Creek, traditional Arab houses, mosques, the souk, date farms and desert and marine life. One of the more spectacular exhibits portrays pearl diving, including sets of pearl merchants’ weights, scales and sieves. Also on display, are artefacts from several excavations in the emirate, recovered from graves that date back to the third millennium BC.
Sheikh Saeed’s House:
The official residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai (1912-1958) and grandfather of the present Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has been restored to stand proud again on the Shindagha end of Dubai Creek.The house, which dates from 1896, today houses a rare collection of historic photographs, coins, stamps and documents that record Dubai’s history.
